Creating a Facebook Business Page is straightforward, but doing it correctly ensures your page is properly connected, secure, and ready for Meta Business Manager and ads.
Here’s exactly what to do:
STEP 1 — Log Into Your Personal Facebook Account
A Facebook Business Page must be created from a personal profile, but don’t worry, people won’t see your private information.
STEP 2 — Go to “Create Page”
On desktop:
-
Click your profile photo (top right)
-
Select “Create”
-
Choose “Page”
Or go directly to:
👉 Facebook
STEP 3 — Enter Your Page Details
You’ll see a panel on the left:
Page Name
Use your exact business name (consistent with Google, website, Instagram, Business Manager, etc.)
Category
Start typing and choose up to 3 categories (e.g. Real Estate Agency, Dental Clinic, Marketing Agency, etc.)
Bio
Add a short, clear description of what you do and who you help.
Example:
"We help Port Macquarie businesses grow with modern marketing, digital PR, and brand storytelling that inspires action."
Click Create Page.
STEP 4 — Add Your Branding
After creation, add:
-
Profile Photo (usually your logo)
-
Cover Photo (wide banner – branded or a strong hero image)
-
Action Button (Book Now, Call Now, Learn More, Send Message, etc.)
Tip: The cover photo looks different on desktop vs mobile — use safe zones or a centred design.
STEP 5 — Add Your Business Information
Go to Settings > Business Information and fill out:
-
Contact number
-
Email
-
Website
-
Business hours
-
Address (if applicable)
-
Price range
-
Services
This helps with search visibility.
STEP 6 — Add Your Page to Meta Business Manager
This is critical for ads, Meta Pixels, Instagram linking, and permissions.
-
Choose (or create) your Business Manager
-
Go to Business Settings
-
Select Accounts > Pages
-
Click Add > Add a Page
-
Select your newly created page
Now it’s officially business-owned (not personally owned).
STEP 7 — Link Your Instagram Business Account
Inside Business Settings:
-
Go to Accounts > Instagram Accounts
-
Click Add
-
Log in to your Instagram business profile
This allows cross-posting, shared inbox, and ad integration.
STEP 8 — Add People With Proper Roles
In Business Manager:
-
Go to People
-
Add team members
-
Assign them to the Page
-
Choose access level:
-
Admin
-
Editor
-
Advertiser
-
Analyst
-
Never use personal invites directly from the Page. Always assign through Business Manager for security.
STEP 9 — Optimise Your Page
Add:
-
Services
-
Photos
-
Videos
-
Story Highlights (like Instagram)
-
Featured Posts
-
Reviews
-
About section
A complete page ranks better and converts better.
STEP 10 — Start Posting
Before inviting followers, publish at least 3–5 high-quality posts so your page looks alive.
Ideas:
-
Welcome/intro post
-
Your story
-
Services overview
-
Customer testimonials
-
Behind-the-scenes
-
Team photo
Then invite friends, clients, and supporters to follow your page.
BONUS: What NOT to Do
❌ Don’t create the Page from Business Manager — always create it through Facebook first
❌ Don’t leave the Page unlinked to your Business Manager
❌ Don’t boost posts before setting up proper Meta ads
❌ Don’t use a personal profile as the face of the business
❌ Don’t invite people to like the page before you have content
